Quickstart
Install SimpleFill, save your first snippet, and expand it on any website in about two minutes.
This guide takes you from nothing to your first expanded snippet. You don’t need an account, and everything here works on the Free plan.
1. Install SimpleFill
Get SimpleFill from your browser’s store:
| Browser | Where to get it |
|---|---|
| Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi, and other Chromium browsers | Chrome Web Store |
| Firefox | Firefox Add-ons |
| Microsoft Edge | Edge Add-ons |
| Safari on the Mac | Mac App Store |
2. Open the dashboard
The dashboard is where you create and manage everything. To open it, right-click anywhere on a webpage and choose SimpleFill > Open Dashboard. You can also open it from your browser’s extensions page.
The sidebar on the left has three groups:
- Library: Snippets, Folders, and Blocks, the text you save.
- Automation: Fields, Transforms, Forms, and AI, the things that make your text smart.
- General: Settings, Import / Export, and your License.
3. Save your first snippet
- Go to Snippets.
- In Name, type
Work email. - In Shortcut, type
em. The;in front of it is already there; it’s your trigger. - In Value, type your email address.
- Click Add Snippet.
4. Expand it on any website
Open any page with a text box, such as a sign-up form or your email. Click in the box, type ;em, and press Space.
;em␣ → alex@northwind.com
SimpleFill replaces ;em with your email address. The space you typed is used up by the expansion, so nothing extra is left behind.
5. Try the other ways to insert it
You don’t have to remember shortcuts. The same snippet is waiting in three more places:
- Auto-suggestions: Start typing part of the snippet’s name or text in an input box, and SimpleFill shows matches in a dropdown. Press the Down arrow, then Enter.
- Right-click menu: Right-click a text box and choose SimpleFill > Work email.
- Quick Access: Press
⌘ Shift Spaceon a Mac orCtrl Shift Spaceelsewhere, typeemail, and press Enter.
