Smart Field add-ons
Add-ons give Smart Fields new powers, like reading details from the website you’re on.
Smart Field add-ons teach SimpleFill to read details from specific websites. On LinkedIn, it can fill in the name of the person you’re messaging. On GitHub, the pull request you’re reviewing. In HubSpot, the contact you have open.
Hi {{li.firstname}}, thanks for connecting!

Add an add-on
- Open the add-on in the marketplace and click Add to SimpleFill.
- SimpleFill shows what it adds: the websites it works on and each new Smart Field with its shortcut.
- Click Add add-on.
Its fields now appear in the dashboard under Fields > Add-ons.
Use add-on fields
Use them like any other Smart Field:
- Type them on the page, like
;li.firstnameor;gh.pr. - Put them in snippets, with
{{in a rich snippet or{{gh.pr}}in a plain one. - Find them in Quick Access while you’re on the add-on’s website.
Add-on fields fill in only on their own websites. Elsewhere, they’re left empty, and SimpleFill tells you why. If the page doesn’t show the detail, like a GitHub page that isn’t a pull request, the field is left empty too.
Examples
Recruiting outreach on LinkedIn
Hi {{li.firstname}},
I came across your profile ({{li.headline}}) and loved what you’ve
built. We’re hiring for a similar role. Would you be open to a quick chat?
A code review comment on GitHub
Reviewed {{gh.pr.title}} ({{gh.pr}}) on {{date}}. Looks good to merge
into {{gh.pr.base}} once the tests pass.
A HubSpot follow-up
Hi {{hs.firstname}}, great to hear from {{hs.company.name}} again!
Privacy and safety
An add-on is a list of what to read from a page, with no code of its own. SimpleFill reads those details only at the moment you use one of its fields, puts the value in your text, and never reads password boxes. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Update or remove an add-on
- Update: when a new version is out, it shows in the marketplace under My add-ons. Add it again to update; add-ons are replaced in place.
- Remove: go to Fields > Add-ons and delete it. Snippets that used its fields keep working; those fields are just left as text.
Add-ons don’t count toward your plan’s limits.
