# Folders

> Group snippets so they’re easy to find in Quick Access and the right-click menu.

Folders keep related snippets together. They make long lists easy to scan in the dashboard, and they turn into neat submenus in the [right-click menu](https://simplefill.app/docs/right-click-menu).

## Create a folder

1. Go to **Folders**.
2. Type a **Folder Name**, like `Personal Information`.
3. Click **Add Folder**.

## Put snippets in a folder

There are two ways:

- In **Snippets**, use the folder menu on any snippet’s row to move it.
- Pick a folder in the filter above the snippet list before you add new snippets. New snippets go into the folder you’re viewing.

A snippet belongs to one folder at most, and folders don’t nest.

## Where folders show up

| Place | How folders appear |
| --- | --- |
| Dashboard | A filter above the snippet list, and a snippet count on each folder |
| Right-click menu | Snippets without a folder first, then one submenu per folder |
| Quick Access | Searching a folder’s name finds the snippets inside it |

## Rename, reorder, or delete

- Click the pencil to rename a folder.
- Drag folders to change their order.
- Deleting a folder **doesn’t delete its snippets**. They stay in your library, just without a folder.

## Ideas for folders

- **By area of life**: *Work*, *Personal*, *Side project*
- **By task**: *Support replies*, *Sales follow-ups*, *Interview scheduling*
- **By who it’s for**: *Clients*, *Team*, *Recruiters*

> [!TIP]
> [Quick Access](https://simplefill.app/docs/quick-access) can combine separate snippets from the same folder, such as *First name* and *Last name*, into a single *Full name* suggestion. Keeping your personal details together in one folder makes that work.

## Limits

The Free plan includes 5 folders, Standard 50, and Pro unlimited.
